Guido Donati 

Guido Donati born in Mozzo (Bergamo) in 1949. He studied music in Turin and Alessandria, gaining diplomas in organ, composition, piano and choral music.
Silver medal at Vercelli’s international competition “Viotti” in 1972, he gained second place at Castagneto Carducci’s composition award in 2003 and 2009. He performed in a number of organ festivals across Italy and Europe. Among the others he performed as harpsichord player in front of the former Italian president Francesco Cossiga in 1986. In 1995 he played in Santo Sudario’s church in Turin for former Italian President Oscar Luigi Scalfaro.
He wrote more than 200 compositions between piano pieces, symphonies and concerts for organ and orchestra; most of them published for LDC, Animando, Carrara.
In 1984 Parisian orchestra “Opus Ensemble” performed his “Andante, Attesa e Scherzo” for oboe, viola, contrabass and piano within Estoril international music festival held in Portugal.
He’s also author of music for movies and sound designer.
Between 1968 and 1974 he was part of Turin’s Electronic music project. He’s also active in Italian jazz scene both as compose and performer. He released his own compositions “Donati plays Donati” for Tactus in 2007. He also taught organ and composition at G. Verdi’s conservatory. He features his first collaboration with Elegia (ELEORG035) titled ‘Francophilie’ containg musics of Boëllman, Frank and Vierne.
