Luigi Lupo

After obtaining a diploma in flute at the “G.B. Martini” Conservatory of Bologna in 1991, Luigi Lupo dedicated himself principally to the study and research of historical flutes. In 1995 he graduated in the Disciplines of Arts, Music and Theatre at the Faculty of Letters and Philosophy at Bologna University, with a research thesis on the “renaissance flute”. In 1996 he concluded his diploma studies in the Recorder and the Baroque Flute at the "F.E. Dall'Abaco" Conservatory of Verona with Maestro M. Castellani, while at the same time attending the Chamber Music Course with Maestro J.B. Christensen at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis. Still in Verona, in 2007, he obtained the 2nd level Academic Diploma in Musical Disciplines, concentrating on the Recorder and Traverse Flute at the "F.E. Dall'Abaco" Conservatory with the already mentioned Maestro M. Castellani. He currently collaborates with various ancient music ensembles, ranging from the medieval to the romantic repertoire. He combines concert and musicological activities. Two of his articles were published in the book “Il Flauto in Italia” issued by the Ministry of Cultural Assets and Activities, edited by C. Paradiso and printed in Rome in 2005 by the Istituto Poligrafico e Zecca dello Stato. He has made numerous recordings for various companies, including EMI Classics, Naxos, III° Millennio, Brilliant Classics, La Bottega Discantica, RSI, RAI-Trade, Stradivarius, Tactus, etc. He teaches at the Istituto Musicale “A. Vivaldi” of Bolzano, at the Extraordinary Courses of Ancient Music at the “J. Tomadini” State Conservatoire of Udine and at the Scuola di Musica Antica “Girolamo Dalla Casa” of ILMA – Palazzo Gerometta – Clauzetto (Pordenone).
